If you've just given your life to Jesus — welcome. Heaven celebrated, and so do we. Whether it happened at a festival, in a conversation with a friend or alone in your room, something real has begun. This guide is for your first 30 days.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17

What just happened

When you turned from sin and put your trust in Jesus, God did more than you can feel right now. You were forgiven — every sin, past, present and future. You were made new — given a fresh start from the inside. You were adopted into God's family. And His Holy Spirit came to live in you, to help you follow Jesus.

“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
John 1:12

When doubts come

It's very common to wake up a day or a week later and wonder whether it was real — especially if you didn't feel anything dramatic. Your salvation doesn't rest on your feelings. It rests on Jesus' promise:

  • "Whoever comes to me I will never cast out." (John 6:37)
  • "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)
  • "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:13)

Your first 30 days

01

Read the Gospel of John

A chapter a day takes three weeks. It was written so that you would believe and have life in Jesus' name. Here's how to read the Bible for the first time.

02

Talk to God every day

Prayer is simply talking with God — honestly, in your own words. Thank Him, tell Him what's on your mind, and ask for help.

03

Find a church family

Look for a church that loves Jesus and teaches the Bible. Go this Sunday if you can, and keep going.

04

Tell someone

Tell a friend, a family member or the person who shared Jesus with you. Faith grows when it's spoken.

05

Ask about baptism

Jesus asked His followers to be baptized as a public declaration of new life. A local church will gladly help.

06

Find one person to walk with

Someone a few steps ahead of you who can answer questions and pray with you.

For the Bible part, start here: how to read the Bible for the first time. For baptism, see what baptism is.

When you mess up

You will. Every Christian does. Becoming a Christian doesn't make you perfect overnight; it makes you forgiven and gives you a new direction. When you sin, don't hide from God — run to Him. Be honest, receive His forgiveness, and keep going.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9

What changes — and what takes time

Some things may change quickly: a new peace, a new desire to pray, old habits losing their grip. Others take years. That's normal. Following Jesus is called a walk, not a sprint. Discipleship is learning, day by day, to trust and obey Him — read what discipleship is.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 1:6

You're not alone

Questions people ask

What should I do after becoming a Christian?

Start simple: read the Gospel of John a chapter a day, talk to God honestly every day, find a local church that loves Jesus and teaches the Bible, tell someone what happened, and ask a church about baptism. You don't need to change everything at once — follow Jesus one day at a time.

How do I know I'm really saved?

Your salvation rests on Jesus' promise, not your feelings. He said whoever comes to Him He will never cast out (John 6:37), and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13). If you have honestly turned to Him, trust what He has said.

Do I have to go to church as a new Christian?

Following Jesus was never meant to be done alone. A church family helps you grow, prays for you and walks with you when it's hard. Look for one that loves Jesus and teaches the Bible — and if you don't know where to start, ask the person who shared Jesus with you, or contact us.

What if I sin after becoming a Christian?

You will — every Christian does. Sin doesn't undo what Jesus did. Come straight back to Him, be honest, and receive His forgiveness (1 John 1:9). Then keep going. Growing in Jesus is a lifelong journey, not an overnight change.
